Job Roles
Job roles are permission templates. When you add someone to a job's team, you assign them a job role that controls what they can do on that specific job — whether they can edit the job, move candidates, schedule interviews, and more.
Before You Start
Required permission: Admin or Super Admin
Navigate to Manage > Job Roles to manage roles.
Job Roles List
The list shows all job roles with these columns:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Role name and description (if set) |
| Type | "Built-in" (indigo badge) or "Custom" (blue badge) |
| Permissions | Count of permissions granted to this role |
| Members | Number of job team members currently using this role |
| Actions | Link to view role details |
You can search by name or description, sort by any column, and paginate through results.
Built-in vs Custom Roles
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Built-in | Pre-configured roles provided by VoiceHire. Cannot be deleted. |
| Custom | Roles you create for your organization. Can be edited and deleted. |

Edit a Job Role
Goal: Update a role's name, description, or permissions.
Steps
- Go to Manage > Job Roles

Delete a Job Role
Custom roles that are no longer needed can be deleted from the role details page. Click Delete in the page header. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Built-in roles cannot be deleted.
Role Details Page
The details page shows:
- Role name and description
- Type badge (Built-in or Custom)
- Status badge (Active or Inactive)
- Full permission grid — each permission shows a green checkmark if granted or a gray X if not
Example: Create an Interviewer Role
Scenario: Create a role for people who only conduct interviews.
- Go to Manage > Job Roles → Create Role
- Name: "Interviewer", Description: "Conducts interviews and submits feedback"
- Click Create

- Collaboration: View Comments, Leave Comments
- Click Save Changes
Result: When assigned this role on a job, the user can view candidates and manage interviews but cannot edit the job or move candidates through stages.
