Command Bar

The Command Bar is a quick-access overlay for searching, navigating, and running actions from anywhere in the app. Open it with Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+K (Mac).

Searching

Type at least 2 characters to search across candidates, jobs, and applications. Results appear as you type with a short delay.

Category Tabs

The Command Bar has five category tabs that filter what appears in results:

TabContent
AllSearch results across all types, plus matching navigation commands
ApplicationsApplications matching the search query
CandidatesCandidates matching the search query
JobsJobs matching the search query
NavigationPages, settings, and actions matching the search query

Click a tab or use Tab / Shift+Tab on the keyboard to switch categories.

Prefix Shortcuts

Type a prefix character to jump directly to a category without clicking its tab:

PrefixCategoryExample
@Candidates@sarah searches candidates named Sarah
#Jobs#engineer searches jobs with "engineer" in the title
!Applications!frontend searches applications for frontend roles
/Navigation/billing finds billing settings

The active tab updates automatically when you type a prefix.

Default View (No Query)

When you open the Command Bar without typing anything, the default view shows:

  1. Context-aware actions — Actions relevant to the page you are currently on (see below)
  2. Recent items — Up to 10 candidates and jobs you recently opened via the Command Bar
  3. Navigation commands — All pages and settings in the app, including Inbox sub-views with live item counts

Inbox Sub-Views with Live Counts

The default view shows Inbox sub-routes with real-time counts:

ItemRoute
Needs Decision (n)/inbox/needs-decision
AI Activity (n)/inbox/ai-activity
Snoozed (n)/inbox/snoozed
Completed (n)/inbox/completed

Counts update live via SignalR — no page refresh needed.

Recent Items

Previously visited candidates and jobs resurface at the top of the default list. The last 10 items are remembered per browser session and persist across page reloads.

Context-Aware Actions

When you are on a job, candidate, or application page, the Command Bar shows relevant actions at the very top of the default view:

On a Job Page (/jobs/{id}/...)

ActionDescription

ApplicationsView the application pipeline (kanban view)
StagesConfigure interview stages

On an Application Page (/jobs/{jobId}/applications/{id}/...)

Global Actions

Global create and action commands are always available in the Navigation category:

Create CandidateGo to the add candidate form
Create Talent PoolGo to the create talent pool form
Create ClientGo to the new client form
Add UserGo to the invite user form

Create FormGo to the new application form

When you have typed a query, a Search Candidates option appears at the bottom of the results list:

Search Candidates: "your query"

Selecting this option navigates to the Candidates page with your query pre-filled as an AI search. The AI interprets natural language to generate filters — for example, "senior engineers in Seattle" filters by title, experience, and location.

See Searching Candidates for details on AI-powered candidate search.

Permissions

Items that require a permission your account does not have are shown greyed out with a "No permission" label. They cannot be opened. Contact your administrator if you need access to a restricted area.
